Major terror plot thwarted in Pakistan's Punjab province

Thwarted Terrorist Plans

Pakistan's law enforcement agencies successfully thwarted a significant terrorist plot aimed at targeting key installations in the Punjab province. In a series of operations, they apprehended 13 terrorists, primarily affiliated with banned groups, including the Islamic State (ISIS) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab police executed 83 intelligence-based operations across various districts in the province to preempt potential terrorist incidents. During these operations, they arrested 13 suspected terrorists and seized weapons, explosives, and prohibited materials.

Diverse terrorist affiliations

The arrested individuals had affiliations with different militant groups, including ISIS (Daesh), TTP, Tehreek Jafariya Pakistan, and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

Law enforcement recovered nearly 5 kilograms of explosives, an improvised explosive device (IED) bomb, 29 detonators, 49 feet of protective fuse wire, prima cards, one pistol, one SMG rifle with 80 bullets, and banned literature from the possession of the arrested terrorists.

The terrorists had planned acts of sabotage across the province, intending to target vital installations. Fortunately, their sinister plans were foiled by law enforcement agencies.Police have registered eight cases against the arrested terrorists and have taken them to an undisclosed location for interrogation.Last month, the CTD carried out operations in different areas of Punjab, resulting in the arrest of approximately 30 terrorists affiliated with banned organizations, primarily ISIS and TTP.
